I'm Mark Restivo. I run a homelab and I write down the procedures that keep it running.
The lab is a Proxmox cluster with TrueNAS behind it, a handful of self-hosted services, monitoring that I actually look at, and backups I've had to restore from more than once. It is not a showcase build. It's the thing that holds enough that losing it would cost me a bad weekend.
Professionally I've spent years in IT with a long stretch in identity and account provisioning for an enterprise — the kind of work where a sloppy offboarding procedure isn't a style question. Nothing here comes from an employer: no employer code, no employer documents, no employer specifics. Everything I sell is built from my own hardware, my own procedures, and public vendor documentation.
How these are made
Every product starts as something I already run: a runbook, a script, a worksheet I filled in during an actual outage. I clean it up, generalise it so it isn't tied to my hostnames, and edit it with AI assistance — the procedures are mine, the copy-editing is not done alone. I'd rather say that plainly once than have you wonder.
What I won't do: invent numbers, claim results I haven't had, or publish a procedure I haven't run.
